Summary of Landscaping Work Undertaken
Originally the clients contacted us to buy some plants to hold a steep slope. They had recently built their dream home but the site was left a bit of a mess. It was difficult to envision creating a beautiful garden for the house. It was flanked by a road on one side and a steep slope on the other. We discussed some options for terracing and landscaping the site. Being situated so close to the road, the house lacked privacy. This gorgeous modern house needed a bit of a jungle back drop to create privacy and terraced beds that could be maintained.
The planting was mixed tropicals with lots of heliconias and gingers for a jungle feel screen. Beds that got intense wind and sun on the slope were planted with variegated pandanus and bismarckia palms,big statement low maintenance plants.
The overall effect was a lush tropical garden that enhanced the clean modern lines of the house while creating privacy.
